I’ve been rockin’ boppin’ swingin’ and doo woppin’ all my life. From the late 60’s to today, I’ve always loved the music from ‘back in the day’.
I started performing as the bass singer in a group called Ronnie and the Satellites in 1958 at the tender age of 13. After recording our first record, ‘Last Night I Dreamed’ backed with ‘Dream of You’ in 1959, we were privileged to perform with many of the stars of the day throughout the Greater New England area. Dion and the Belmonts, Johnny Mastrangelo (later to be known as Johnny Maestro) and the Crests, The Tuneweavers, Bobby Vee, Paul Evans… and many, many others.
Then… in 1961… when our version of ‘Blue Moon’ was just starting to climb the charts, The Marcels TOPPED the charts with THEIR own version. You might remember… ‘Dip, dip, dip, dip, worpa, worpa…’ 🙂
All 5 ORIGINAL members of The Satellites reunited for our 50th anniversary as a group in 2009. We recorded and performed together for another 3 years. WHAT A RIDE!!
I’ve been an internet Radio DJ since 2009, playing those doo wop and oldies I love and some newer tunes done by my many Fantastic Friends worldwide, still striving to keep the music alive.
