Greetings! My radio name is DJ Alex. I was born in Laredo, Texas, which is where I currently live with my wife, son, 2 birds and a tenacious 6 pound chihuahua. My passion for music developed long before I lost my first baby tooth. Thanks to my father and sister, my childhood home was constantly filled with the sounds of Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman,Herb Alpert, Ferrante & Teicher, Elvis, Sam Cooke ,Shirley Bassey, Jefferson Airplane, Bobby Vee, Chopin,The Beatles. Motown, the soundtrack to Jesus Christ Superstar and more.
Having been introduced to such a broad spectrum of artists and genres during my tender years is what prompted me to seek out more singers and bands as I grew into adulthood.. ….and that is how I became a voracious record collector. The first three 45’s I remember owning are “Volare” by Domenico Modugno, “So Rare” by the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, and “She Loves You” by the Beatles. Not much has changed since those early years, except the size and format of my music collection. What started out as a few 45’s in a shoebox has evolved into a collection of 3000+ cd’s, which are stored on shelves and in large steamer trunks. To this day, nothing excites me more than discovering or re-discovering a fine vintage song. I am delighted to be part of Remember Then Radio, and look forward to sharing some musical treasures with you every Saturday evening at 8pm ET e.s.t.
